Leadership Committee

What is the Leadership Committee?

The Academies of Loudoun Mini-THON fundraiser is organized and executed by students, for the kids. Students are involved every step of the way, from making the plans to the student volunteers who make our events possible. The Leadership Committee is comprised of students and is responsible for planning and organizing the Academies of Loudoun Mini-THON fundraiser.

Who can apply?

Application to the Leadership Committee is available to all AOS, AET, and MATA students from any grade level and on either A or B days. We encourage everyone who feels they are able to make a true commitment to apply and we look for those who will be both committed towards and excited about our cause.

What are the requirements/expectations?

As stated, we encourage everyone who will be committed to apply. There are no other requirements to application and you do not need to have any prior leadership experience or any particular skills.

If accepted, we expect the following of our Leadership Committee members:
  • Attendance to lunch meetings and fulfillment of responsibilities in a timely manner as outlined in our Attendance and Work Ethic page
  • Attendance to any virtual meetings as best as possible
  • Give us prior notice of any absences or inability to complete responsibilities if possible
  • Flexibility - What we do will constantly change throughout the year and so will the workloads
  • Frequent volunteering at our events
  • Respectful and enthusiastic towards the cause

What is the meeting schedule?

We will have at least one in-person meeting every week at lunch (typically on the first ACL day of the week). Additionally, committees may also have virtual meetings outside of school as necessary.

However, as stated above, what we do - including our workloads and responsibilities - will constantly shift throughout the year as events and fundraisers near or we plan new ones. Because of this, our meeting schedule may very well shift too. We may eventually have two or three lunch meetings a week, or even before or after school ones.

Of course, we will be flexible and understanding for those who can not make every meeting in accordance to our Attendance and Work Ethic policy (linked above). If you cannot make a morning meeting because your bus never arrives on time, that is no problem. However, please just keep in mind that our meeting schedule will almost certainly change throughout the year and will not remain the same.
